MEA NT Darwin Christmas Party

A report on the Christmas Party aboard the Darwin Harbour Cruises vessel 'The Charles Darwin' on 15 December will be provided in our next newsletter.

The Charles Darwin is a stunning tri-level catamaran that has been beautifully refurbished under the expert eye of David Beaumont-Smith.

The three decks offer three levels of executive entertainment, with seated dining facilities on the lower deck, dance floor and cocktail set up on the middle deck and outdoor relaxation on the upper, sun deck. Individual decks can be privately chartered or the entire vessel, which is in survey for up to 270 passengers.

Darwin Harbour Cruises offer wet season cruising options that are perfect for Christmas functions, New Year parties or summer relaxation.


Professional Development Update

Darwin PD - The Emotionally Intelligent Communicator
Attendees at this professional development session heard from Simon Thiessen who is the founder and CEO of The Real Learning Experience and is one of the leading trainers in Australia. Attendees were able to identify their own social (or behavioural) style that defines the way they work and do things and learned how they can adapt their own style to be more effective when they are working with people who aren't like them. This session was highly interactive and saw a great turnout.

Darwin PD - Bringing a rodeo inside the Darwin Convention Centre
The toughest cowboys from around the globe, Australian champions and the best local cowboys and cowgirls were the line-up for The Darwin International Rodeo at Darwin's Convention Centre in July. MEA Members were given the opportunity to be presented with an exciting case study on bringing a rodeo inside the Darwin Convention Centre. They were treated to a back of house tour of the Convention Centre and got a chance to see how the whole venue ticks.


Calling for Y MEA Members in NT

Y MEA is an exciting initiative for young employees of MEA members (under 27 years of age) to meet industry colleagues at a variety of engaging events to learn from relevant and entertaining guest speakers and build their industry relationships.

We encourage MEA members to support the development of our future industry leaders.

2010 MEA Awards Program Update

After a record number of entries in 2009, MEA is delighted to announce the opening of the 2010 Meetings and Events Industry Awards.

The Awards Program provides an opportunity for member companies and individuals to showcase their achievements during 2009/2010 and be rewarded for their results.

Becoming a finalist or winner will recognise outstanding performance across 30 different categories at state and national level allowing members to benchmark their performance against other professionals and to review and improve their business.
